ADP and Standard Register Introduce Dealer Compliance Assessment Program for Automotive Dealerships; New Document Program Helps Dealers Sell More Cars, Parts and Service
CHICAGO--April 1, 2003--Motor vehicle dealers face many of the same increased economic and legal challenges affecting other businesses. However, automotive dealers also must understand and comply with a multitude of laws specific to the motor vehicle industry. To assist dealers in their efforts to stay current with legal requirements, The Dealer Services Group of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) and Standard Register today introduced the addition of the Dealer Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) to their forms and supplies solution, Dealer Office Xpress (DOX)."This type of program is critical for the automotive industry," said Ted Valenti, ADP Dealer Services, vice president Imaging Solutions. "At the 2003 NADA Conference, ADP showcased Dealer CAP as part of its portfolio that would soon be available to dealers. While there are other programs providing dealers with specific forms related to compliance, this is the first time a comprehensive program has been introduced. This is just another way DOX helps dealers sell more cars, parts and service profitably."
Dealer CAP was developed in cooperation with Whann & Associates, an Ohio-based law firm specializing in representation of businesses in the motor vehicle industry including dealerships, auto auctions, trade associations and industry-related entities. Founder Keith Whann is known throughout the industry for his legal expertise, and has written numerous industry articles and conducted speaking engagements throughout the country.
"Each day, there are changes to the legal requirements that affect the automotive industry," said Whann. "Helping dealers stay up-to-date with these changes results in more efficient operations and protects the transactions the dealerships enter into with customers by providing documents that contain appropriate and compliant language."
When integrated correctly into the dealerships' management system, Dealer CAP can assist dealers in preventing some of the most common paperwork errors, which in some cases can lead to noncompliance. This could include such things as:
-- | Incorrectly drafted documents |
-- | Missing, incomplete or conflicting disclosures/agreements |
-- | Excessive and unclear customer obligations |
-- | Inconsistent or inappropriate use of verbiage throughout dealership/customer materials. |
"Standard Register and ADP are committed to providing solutions that help our customers improve their business results," said Frank Costantino, area vice president, Midwest, Standard Register. "Dealer CAP provides an integrated system of forms that helps the dealer create a selling system for the dealership that is efficient, cost effective, compliant and customer-focused."
