VW says U.S. Sales Fell in March

FRANKFURT, April 1, 2003; Reuters reported that Europe's largest carmaker Volkswagen AG said on Tuesday it had sold 26,183 vehicles in the United States in March, down 17 percent from a year ago.

VW, suffering from a low point in its product cycle, sells around a fifth of its cars in the United States. It has said unfavourable exchange rates and weak markets on both sides of the Atlantic will mean its profits will fall this year
