DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund Awards $100,000 Grant To Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corporation
Grant to support the core programs of Detroit LISC's current 'From The Ground Up' Detroit neighborhood initiative
DETROIT, April 1 -- Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a nonprofit organization supporting resident-led community development corporations (CDCs) working to revitalize their Detroit neighborhoods, announces it has received a $100,000 grant from the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund.
"We are extremely grateful to the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund for its generous donation. Clearly, the Fund is committed to helping CDCs and Detroit LISC transform neighborhoods," said Vincent Tilford, Detroit LISC's senior program director. The grant will be used to maintain Detroit LISC's core activities that enhance the capability of the groups to undertake community- building activities.
Since 1990, Detroit LISC has offered CDCs technical assistance, project financing, operating support and training to help them build capacity and revitalize their neighborhoods. Detroit LISC works closely with city and state governments and partners with residents, investors, lenders and donors, such as foundations and major financial institutions. The organization has raised over $67 million and leveraged an additional $175 million in funding for Detroit as one of national LISC's 38 offices nationwide. National LISC, the largest nonprofit community development support corporation in the country, partners with more than 1,800 corporations, foundations and individuals who have committed over $3 billion, while leveraging an additional $3 billion in community investments to benefit 3,600 CDCs in the United States.
