Polaris Appoints Mary McConnell as General Counsel
MINNEAPOLIS--March 31, 2003--Polaris Industries today announced the appointment of Mary McConnell as vice president and general counsel, a new position at Polaris.McConnell joined Polaris after spending nearly 20 years practicing law on behalf of a number of public and commercial organizations. Most recently, she was general counsel for the Control Products Division of Honeywell.
"As the company grows and the external environment continues to change, Polaris faces significantly more challenging legal issues that require much more focus and coordination, said Polaris CEO Tom Tiller. "In her new role, Mary will be responsible for developing a corporate legal strategy to support the business strategy. Given her impressive background and experience, Mary is ideally suited for that role."
McConnell started her career as a senior biologist with the U.S. Corps of Engineers. During her five years in that role, she also attended law school and graduated in 1984. Upon graduation, McConnell joined the Dakota County Attorney's Office as assistant county attorney where she spent three very busy years in the Civil Division. She then joined the law firm of Lindquist & Vennum in their corporate department and was promoted to partner in 1992. In 1995, she joined Genmar Holdings Inc. as vice president, environmental and regulatory affairs and assistant general counsel. Shortly after joining Genmar, she was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary and stayed in that role until 2002 when she joined Honeywell.
McConnell holds a bachelor of science degree in wildlife biology from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
