Visteon's Altec Plant Recognized By Honda

CHIHUAHUA, Mexico, March 31 -- Visteon Corporation's Altec Plant was recognized by Honda Mexico for its performance in quality and delivery during 2002.

Visteon's Altec Plant is recognized for attaining high quality standards and on-time delivery of instrument clusters to Honda's final assembly plant in El Salto, Mexico. The electronics produced by Altec are used in the Honda Accord.

Honda's Quality Institute recognized suppliers at its annual supplier meeting. Masahito Konishi, Honda's purchasing director for Mexico, was joined by Honda Purchasing Managers Shizuma Miyazono and Kazuya Atarashi to present this special recognition to Carlos Blanco, Visteon Mexico sales director.

"Quality is our corporate mindset and personal stamp," Blanco said. "This recognition award is an example of what we can do through solid teamwork and a sense of responsibility. Visteon's efforts for continuous improvement through the application of lean manufacturing philosophies and six sigma processes have resulted in improved quality, elimination of waste and more efficient manufacturing processes."

Altec also received Honda's "Green Partner Award," which recognizes the plant's efforts to preserve and improve the environment.

Visteon's Altec plant is located in Chihuahua, Mexico, and specializes in the production of electronics for the automotive industry including audio and multimedia systems, radios, instrument clusters, control sensors and modules. It began operations in 1986 and employs around 3,800 people.
