Free Special Attractions; Crowd Pleasers for the Whole Family at the New York Auto Show
NEW YORK, March 27 -- In addition to more than 35 new vehicle introductions, dozens of concept cars and nearly 1,000 new cars and trucks, the 2003 New York International Automobile Show also offers a range of free outdoor events sure to delight the whole family.
"The New York Auto Show is a great place to chose your next car -- or at least dream about it -- but above all, it's about having a fun day out with the whole family," said show director Candida Romanelli. "This year, we have turned up the 'fun' level with back-to-back free outdoor events planned for every day of the Show," continued Romanelli.
The following FREE events and displays take place in front of the Javits Center for everyone to enjoy:
Saturday, April 19 Official Opening Day Celebrations 9:30am - 11:00am Featuring NHRA race driver Bobby Martin performing one of his famous "burn-outs" in a 3,000 horsepower drag-racer. Don't miss the tire-smokin' fun on opening day. Monday, April 21 Stunt Driving Extravaganza Four performances World famous stunt driver Russell Swift, (12:00, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30) driving a MINI Cooper S, will perform a range of amazing stunts, skids, jumps, turns and attempt to drive on two wheels. Tuesday, April 22 Olympic Excitement Hits the Auto Show All day Come and see how New York will be transformed if it wins its bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. Wednesday, April 23 Classic Car Day All day Take a stroll down memory lane as the Show takes a nostalgic look back and displays some timeless classics. Thursday, April 24 Neon Car "Glow-off" 6:00pm - 10:30pm Customized ground effects and the Street Glow NASCAR Racing Team light up the Javits Center. Friday, April 25 Art Cars All day Think your car is a piece of work? Check out this outrageous display of old cars that have been turned into works of art. You won't believe your eyes. Sunday, April 27 Lotus Car Display All day The Lotus Car Club of New York and New Jersey will be displaying the best Lotus cars from 1965-2002 including the 1979 Lotus Esprit S2 (James Bond "Spy Who Loved Me" model).
Kicking off the springtime selling season, the 2003 New York International Auto Show will feature an impressive collection of cutting-edge design and remarkable innovation. More than four floors of displays from the world's automakers will feature the newest vehicles and futuristic concept cars. Nearly 1,000 cars and trucks will be on display at the Javits Center, filling 846,000 square feet of exhibit space. In addition, dozens of World and North American vehicle debuts are expected at the upcoming Show.
