STABILITY SYSTEM WILL IMPROVE VEHICLE SAFETY
Wixom. MI – March 25, 2003 Vehicle control and stability during an
evasive maneuver is improved with the introduction of a new
suspension-stabilizing device from RM Stability Management Systems, Inc. In
response to safety concerns in the more than 80 million high center of
gravity vehicles on the road, RM is offering Stability Management Systems
(SMS), a “counter-spring” technology that controls the un-sprung energy in
leaf spring suspensions.
It was “outside of the box” thinking that brought about the concept of SMS.
Developed from the challenge in motor sports to improve the “recovery” of a
racecar suspension after a sharp turn so that a second turn could be
negotiated quicker. By using the axle, wheels and tires as a counterweight,
SMS controls the rebound travel of leaf springs thus reducing body roll and
holding the tires to the road. SMS also extends tire, brake and shock life
as it lessens affects from cross winds and passing trucks, reduces passenger
motion sickness and driver fatigue.
Law enforcement agencies, public transportation and the driving public have
evaluated SMS. Capt. Robert Clark of Michigan’s Flint Police Dept. said he
was pleased to find his officers in unanimous agreement: “They’re tickled to
death …with the ride and handling” and has recommended the system to other
law enforcement agencies. Robert Foy, General Manager of Flint’s Mass
Transportation Authority was also impressed: “Our drivers have noticed a
significant improvement.”
As the concern about the safety of full size vans, trucks and SUVs grows, RM
Stability Management Systems, Inc. is introducing a simple, cost effective
and proactive solution.
