AAA Offers 5% Gas Rebate

NEW ORLEANS, March 25 -- AAA is working to help families counteract the effects of high gasoline prices on their family budgets by offering a 5 percent rebate on gasoline and diesel purchases made with the AAA Visa credit card.

Now, all new and existing AAA Visa credit cardholders will receive a 5 percent rebate when they use their AAA Visa credit card issued by MBNAAmerica Bank to purchase fuel at any automated fuel pump worldwide. Rebates will appear as a credit on the cardholder's monthly statement. Users must purchase the gas or diesel by swiping the AAA credit card at the pump.

Nationwide, gas prices are averaging about $1.70 per gallon for self- service regular, up more than 40 cents per gallon from last year. At that price, AAA members can save 8.5 cents per gallon with the 5 percent rebate or $85 per year per household using 1,000 gallons per year.
