AAA Chicago to Offer Free Child Identification Services

AURORA, Ill., March 24 -- It takes about ten minutes. It's free to AAA members and non-members. It could help locate a lost child. It's called the weeID Child Identification Program - and it will be taking place at specified AAA locations Monday, March 31 through Saturday, April 5.

"No one wants to think the unthinkable -- that their child could someday be abducted or reported missing. But, as we read today's headlines, we are reminded that it could happen anywhere," said Steve Nolan, spokesman for AAA Chicago. "Child safety identification can help provide important information that might lead to finding a lost child."

Parents who bring their children to the weeID event can expect to receive a 6 X 8 card with their child's photo; fingerprints; personal information including height, weight and hair color; medical information; and emergency contacts. All of the information can be used by law enforcement agencies for identification purposes. The card also can be left with baby sitters or caretakers for use in an emergency. Children participating in the weeID program must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
