U.S. Army Awards Sonic Jet Performance's Technology Solutions Group Division $1.03 Million Order

CHARLESTON, S.C., March 24 -- Technical Solutions Group, Inc. (TSG), a subsidiary of Sonic Jet Performance, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: SJET) has received an order from the US Army for spares for the Mine Protected Vehicle, the "Buffalo." This order for spares was a part of the $8.2 million dollar contract the US Army previously awarded TSG in September of 2002 for the production of ten (10) Buffalo vehicles. The dollar value of this order was slightly higher than originally anticipated.

TSG's Buffalo is the world's leading mine protected and armored vehicle. The Buffalo's design results in the only mine-protected vehicle ("MPV") in its class with full 360-degree occupant protection. The vehicle withstands a triple-stacked land mine (45 lbs of TNT) on any wheel as well as a double- stacked land mine (30 lbs of TNT) anywhere under the vehicle. It is provides ballistic armor to 7.62 NATO ball, upgradeable to Dragunov ap. This means the Buffalo is effective against 99.9% of the world's landmines - making it the best-protected vehicle in the world. The Buffalo is powered by a Mack diesel engine that produces 400 horsepower and 1,450 pounds of torque. It is capable of carrying a load of 20,000 pounds and traveling at 70 miles per hour.

The Buffalo, with its capacity to clear in excess of 1,000 land mines each hour, is the most efficient and comprehensive mine clearing system in existence. After extensive testing, Colonel Brian Green of Fort Belvoir stated that the Buffalo "is the best I've seen, hands down."

The Buffalo spare parts ordered by the US Army will allow personnel in the field to quickly repair any damage to the vehicle caused by large anti-tank mines. The spare parts will be fitted into rail impact tested shipping containers for transport by C130.

The U.S. State Department has reported that there are more than 80 million landmines in place in 60 countries. The Associated Press stated in a recent briefing given to soldiers at Fort Campbell that there are between 10 and 15 million landmines in Afghanistan alone. According to the Human Rights Watch website, "Iraq is severely affected by mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) as a result of the 1991 Gulf War, the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran War, two decades of internal conflict, and even World War Two. Landmines and UXO pose a problem in the north, along the Iran-Iraq border, and throughout the central and southern regions of the country." While there are no statistics confirming the number of land mines currently in Iraq, 81 U.S. Casualties during the Gulf War resulted from landmines Furthermore, the publication Landmine Monitor reports that new casualties due to landmines and unexploded ordinances throughout the world totaled 15,000 to 20,000 during 2001. As a result, there is an increasing urgency to deploy mine-protected vehicles.
