Perodua Plans New Car Model By End-2004

KUALA LUMPUR March 23,2003; Dow Jones reported that Malaysian automaker Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn. Bhd., or Perodua, plans to roll out a new model to be sold under the Daihatsu brand in Southeast Asia by end-2004, the New Straits Times reports, citing unnamed industry sources.

Perodua Managing Director Abdul Rahman Omar declined to detail the new model, the report says.

"We are unable to confirm when production of this vehicle can start. It would be best to say that yes, there will be a new model come 2005," the paper quotes him as saying.
