DuPont Automotive Appoints Top Coatings Leadership
TROY, Mich., March 21 -- DuPont Automotive today announced it is appointing two executives to key leadership positions in its DuPont Herberts Automotive Systems unit for automotive OEM coatings, effective April 1.
Marty M. McQuade, 49, vice president - DuPont Herberts Automotive Systems, will become global vice president and general manager, in charge of worldwide business operations for automotive OEM coatings. He will remain in Troy, Mich. McQuade succeeds John R. Lewis who held this position in Wuppertal, Germany. Lewis now will lead growth initiatives in Asia for DuPont Performance Coatings from DuPont corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Del.
Simultaneously, Stephen L. Cox, 47, business director for DuPont Powder Coatings, is named vice president - Americas, DuPont Herberts Automotive Systems. Cox will relocate to Troy, Mich., from Houston, Texas and assume responsibility for the automotive OEM coatings business in North and South America. Cox's counterpart in DuPont Herberts Automotive Systems for automotive OEM coatings in Europe and Asia is Reinhart Schmitt. Schmitt will continue to be located in Wuppertal, Germany.
McQuade has more than 26 years of experience in all aspects of automotive coatings. He has held coatings business manufacturing, research and financial positions, and was managing director for DuPont Automotive Coatings - Europe, located in Bonn, Germany, from 1995 to 1999 before assuming the Americas leadership position in April 1999. Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, McQuade holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and a master's degree in business administration from Georgia State University. McQuade and his wife, Linda, reside in Rochester Hills, Mich.
Cox has 23 years of experience in the coatings industry. He joined DuPont in 1999, when the company acquired Herberts, the previous coatings unit of Hoechst AG. He has held various business and business development leadership positions in Europe and the United States. He led the Herberts Standox brand in the Americas for refinishes used for automotive body repair from 1989 to 1996. As DuPont acquired Herberts, from 1998 to 2000, Cox assumed leadership of both the Standox(R) and Spies Hecker(R) brand refinish products. In 2000, he left Michigan to head DuPont Powder Coatings in Houston, Texas. Born in Chelmsford, England, Cox holds a bachelor of arts in business studies from London Guild Hall University. He and his wife, Susan, have three children.
