James Weil, National Expert on Business and Aging, To Conduct Free Workforce Aging Forum at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
WESTPORT, Conn.--March 20, 2003--Hear about the Aging of the Workforce and
Its Implications To Employers
If present trends continue, America will experience a labor shortage of 4.8 million workers in 10 years and 19.7 million in 20 years, according to the Employment Policy Foundation.
To help employers prepare for the profound implications that the aging workforce will have on their organizations, James Weil, one of the nation's foremost authorities on issues of business and aging and LifeCare's Managing Director of Successful Aging, is conducting an informative forum entitled The Clock is Ticking, What Will You Do? on Friday, April 11, 2003, at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc., 19001 South Western Ave., Torrance, CA. Attendance is open to all those who are interested in this subject, and admission to the Toyota-sponsored forum is free.
"The aging population continues to impact every facet of our lives. From increased healthcare costs to a restructuring of the traditional family dynamic, our nation's shifting demographics are changing the way we think," says Weil. "And nowhere is this more evident than in the American workplace." Among other topics, Weil will address how employers can:
-- | retain their most valued employees; |
-- | develop strategies for maximizing productivity of aging workers; |
-- | discover what incentives and benefits older workers value most; and |
-- | implement creative ways for leveraging the ongoing value of the retiree population. |
"As a worldwide and progressive company, the continued strength of the Toyota workforce is key to maintaining our leadership position in the automotive industry," says Elizabeth Hall, Work/Life and Communications Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "LifeCare offers an innovative solution that benefits employers and employees, and we're pleased to sponsor the LifeCare forum on the aging workforce to learn first-hand how to enrich employee benefits offerings while minimizing the impact of potential workforce shortages."
The forum begins at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 10:30 a.m. Seating is limited. Those interested in attending should call 203-291-3512 or write to mgeraghty@lifecare.com.
