ArvinMeritor to Provide Integrated Axle and Brake Systems On International(R) Tractors
LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 19 -- ArvinMeritor, Inc. today announced that the International Truck and Engine Corporation selected the company's Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) business group to continue to supply front axles, rear axles, air brakes, and automatic slack adjusters as standard databook position for the International 5000i- (vocational) and 9000i-series (linehaul) tractors, to 2010.
The seven-year supply agreement, valued at $1.2 billion, was announced here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
According to ArvinMeritor, the arrangement is designed to provide International's facility in Escobedo, Mexico, with modular assemblies of front and rear axles, brakes, hubs and drums, suspensions, wheel-speed sensors, and shock absorbers. These modules will be assembled and delivered from ArvinMeritor's joint venture, Sistemas Automotrices de Mexico, S.A., formed in November 2002. Individual axles and brakes will be manufactured at ArvinMeritor's plants in Asheville, N.C., and Tilbury, Ont., Canada, and delivered to International's Garland, Tx., and Chatham, Ont., facilities.
