AAA Offers Five Percent Gas Rebate
MINNEAPOLIS, March 19 -- To help counteract the effects of record-high pump prices, AAA today announces a five percent rebate on gasoline and diesel purchases made with the AAA Visa(R) credit card.
"With the present uncertainty about the future of gas prices, especially in the event of war, AAA believes this is a valuable way to help motorists save on this necessary expense," said Dawn Duffy, AAA spokesperson.
Beginning today, all AAA Visa credit card holders will receive a five percent rebate when they use their AAA credit card issued by MBNA America Bank to purchase fuel at any automated fuel pump worldwide. Rebates will appear as a credit on the cardholder's monthly statement. Users must purchase the gas or diesel by swiping the AAA credit card at the pump.
Nationwide, gas prices are averaging $1.72 per gallon for regular unleaded. A five percent rebate would save AAA members nearly nine cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased. In Iowa, where gas prices are averaging $1.66 per gallon for regular unleaded, this rebate will save local members more than eight cents per gallon at this price.
AAA offers automotive, travel, insurance and financial services to more than 45 million members in the United States and Canada. AAA Minnesota/Iowa is part of The Auto Club Group, which has 4.1 million members in eight Midwest states.
