AAA Offers 5 Percent Gas Rebate
HOUSTON--March 19, 2003--AAA Texas is working to help families counteract the effects of record high gas prices by offering a five percent rebate on gasoline and diesel fuel purchases made with the AAA Visa(R) credit card at the pump."With the future of gas prices uncertain, we recognize this can be a valuable way to help families save on this necessary expense," said George L. Clarke, vice president and general manager of AAA Texas.
Beginning immediately, all AAA credit card holders will receive a five percent rebate when they use their AAA credit card issued by MBNA America Bank to purchase fuel at any automated fuel pump worldwide. Rebates will appear as a credit on the cardholder's monthly statement. Users must purchase the gas or diesel by swiping the AAA credit card at the pump. The daily rebate limit is $60 in gas charges, which is about a $3 rebate.
In Texas, gas prices are averaging $1.62 per gallon for regular unleaded, up 38 cents from a year ago. At that price, the five percent rebate would save members more than 8 cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased.
"For many families, finding savings where they can is of paramount importance these days," added Clarke. "We're continually looking to provide members with savings and benefits they can use every day. This program has been in development for more than a year, and we're glad that it is being introduced now."
There is no annual fee for the AAA Visa(R) card, which is available only to AAA members. For more information on the AAA gas rebate program, go to AAA's Web site, www.aaa-texas.com.
