AAA Michigan Offers 5 Percent Gas Rebate
DEARBORN, Mich., March 19 -- AAA Michigan is working to help families counteract the effects of record high gas prices on their family budgets by offering a 5 percent rebate on gasoline and diesel purchases made with the AAA Visa(R) credit card.
"With the present uncertainty about the future of gas prices, especially in the event of war, we feel this is a valuable way to help families save on this necessary expense," said Thomas Wehrmeister, director of Financial Programs for AAA Michigan.
Beginning immediately, all new AAA Michigan credit card holders will receive a 5 percent rebate when they use their AAA credit card issued by MBNA America Bank to purchase fuel at any automated fuel pump worldwide. Rebates will appear as a credit on the cardholder's monthly statement. Users must purchase the gas or diesel by swiping the AAA credit card at the pump.
Nationwide, gas prices are averaging $1.72 per gallon for regular unleaded, up 8 cents from last month. At that price the 5 percent rebate would save members 8.6 cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased.
In Michigan, gas prices are averaging $1.76 per gallon for regular unleaded, up 1.3 cents from last month and 42.3 cents from the same time last year. The 5 percent rebate will save members 8.8 cents per gallon at this price.
"If we can do something to help our members keep a little more money in their pockets, you can be sure we will," said Wehrmeister. "And this gas rebate program does just that."
