Customized Civic Si's Join Good Charlotte and New Found Glory on Civic Tour; Autographed Civics to be Displayed on Tour and Awarded to Lucky Fans
VENICE, Calif.--March 18, 2003--American Honda Motor Co., Inc., will be showcasing two uniquely customized Civic Si's on Civic Tour 2003, one designed by Good Charlotte and the other by New Found Glory, the co-headliners of the tour. This drivable art will be on display at venues across the U.S., when the tour hits the road on April 8 in Grand Forks, ND. The customized Civic Si hatchback models feature an amazing array of custom details selected by each band and will be awarded to lucky music fans through national and local sweepstakes as part of Civic Tour 2003.One New Found Glory Civic Si and one Good Charlotte Civic Si will be awarded through a national online sweepstakes at www.civictour.com, the official website of Civic Tour. A total of 12 customized Civic Si's will be awarded through media promotions.
The Honda Civic Si's will tour the country with Civic Tour as featured displays in the new Civic Tour Non-Stop Music Lounge Presented by Alpine. The Music Lounge is a kickback area where concertgoers can play on Xbox gaming consoles, listen to a DJ spinning tunes and get an up-close look at the customized Si's. Ticket sales have been brisk, with Chicago; Philadelphia; Milwaukee; San Jose, CA; and Fairfax, VA, already selling out. In addition several other dates are slated to sell out.
Each uniquely designed Civic Si hatchback is equipped with an Alpine state-of-the-art audio/visual system and custom installation worth $11,000, transforming each car into an awesome mobile entertainment showcase. The CVA-1004 Mobile Multimedia Station(TM), the heart of each system, features an AM/FM receiver with a 6.5-inch motorized widescreen monitor that fully retracts into the dash. An additional tuner box allows passengers to enjoy XM Satellite Radio(R)'s 100+ digital channels from coast-to-coast while the in-dash DVA-5205 allows passengers to enjoy premium DVD/CD/VCD entertainment. Alpine's award-winning satellite-linked PowerNav(TM) DVD navigation system provides turn-by-turn voice guidance to more than 6 million points of interest in the continental U.S. The 1,300-watt Alpine system featuring two pairs of Type-R speakers, two Type-R 10-inch subwoofers and two Alpine V12 amps, delivers powerful bass and clear sound reproduction.
The New Found Glory Civic Si hatchback has many special elements that reflect their fun and fearless attitude, including:

"We're on the road a lot, so we created a car that would have kept us entertained with cool components like the Alpine DVD player, XM Satellite Radio and video game system," said Cyrus of New Found Glory. "Red and black are the coolest car colors, so we decided to combine them for a unique fade, and added a personal touch with some of our band's designs, both inside and out. A lot of the touches are actually inside jokes of ours."
The Good Charlotte Civic Si hatchback features many creative customizations, including:
-- A Nighthawk Black Pearl base coat with an airbrushed depiction
of the explosion from the cover artwork for their current hit
album, "The Young and the Hopeless," and the "GC" logo on the
hood
-- Band members' autographs, as well as the words "Young" and
"Hopeless" in the album's signature green Old English font,
along the car doors
-- Green stitching on the car seats, steering wheel and shift
knob to match the album color scheme, with the "GC" logo on
the front of the seat, racing-style wear patches along the
front seat edges and customized black floor mats embroidered
with the "GC" logo in green Old English lettering
-- 18" Konig Prophet wheels, one of the newest entries in the
Tuner market, featuring a sporty design with a 7-spoke modular
look and chrome finish
"We wanted to create a cool car that reflected our personality and our music, inside and out," said Benji of Good Charlotte. "We're really proud of our current album, so we chose to use the album design as the basis for the exterior artwork, while keeping it simple and sleek."
Both the New Found Glory and Good Charlotte Civic Si hatchbacks also feature:

finest chrome silicon steel and performance powder coated to
last a lifetime, which lower the vehicle two inches in the
front and rear to provide better handling and a controlled,
comfortable ride

and an extreme flares seven-piece kit all manufactured from
urethane, as well as fiberglass rear roof and rear lower hatch
