London, March 14 -- Amicus, the union for automotive workers, can today (14/03/03) announce that following a ballot of both Amicus and TGWU union members we are calling off the dispute and accepting the revised offer from Peugeot.
The ballot result was as follows - 1,678 votes in favour to 887 votes against, a majority of 2 to 1.
Duncan Simpson, Amicus National Secretary said,
"Whilst the final settlement falls below the original aspiration of our members, it's good that the dispute is over."
"We now need to put these acrimonious discussions behind us and concentrate on working with Peugeot to secure long term prosperity and employment for both the company and our members."
