TOP-10 START FOR ALL THREE BMW TEAM PTG M3s
In their SPEED GT World Challenge debut, all three BMW Team PTG BMW M3s
qualified in the top 10 for tomorrow's 50-minute SPEED World Challenge GT
race, beginning at 4:25 p.m. Bill Auberlen's No. 7 BMW M3 will start sixth
after posting a time of 2:14.350 around the 3.7-mile Sebring International
Raceway. Right behind him, with a 2:14.998-second lap, Hans Stuck will start
the No. 8 BMW M3 in seventh and Boris Said will start the No. 6 BMW M3 in
ninth with a 2:15.228-second lap.
BORIS SAID, N0. 6 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"For the first time out everything was pretty good. We still have to work
out some of those new-car blues. The clutch got stuck on its stop so I had
to pull over on Turn 4 and borrow a screwdriver from an obliging fan. It did
not take long to fix."
BILL AUBERLEN, NO. 7 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"It's our first stab at this and it would be hard to imagine that we would
be on the pole with brand new cars straight out of the box. We pushed hard
and we still have some tuning to do to make the package better."
HANS STUCK, NO. 8 BMW Team PTG M3:
"In the first attempt I hit sand in the hairpin, but I was lucky and did not
lose it. In my second attempt I was fast coming up to the back straight with
a fantastic slipstream, but a car ahead backed off and hurt my entrance into
the last turn. This was the first time for more than three or four laps in a
row, so now I see what the tires are doing. I know how to watch the tires
tomorrow."
