Allegro MicroSystems Opens Pennsylvania Development Center; Continued Commitment to Engineering Excellence

WORCESTER, Mass.--March 11, 2003--Allegro MicroSystems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of semiconductor products, today announced the opening of a 15,000 square foot design center in Warminster, PA. Allegro's new Pennsylvania Development Center is an extension to the corporate engineering team with the primary purpose of design and development of next generation semiconductor integrated circuits and processes.
This year Allegro Microsystems, Inc. sold a 250,000 square foot wafer fabrication facility located in Willow Grove, PA. The remaining Allegro employees, primarily design and process engineers, have moved to the new facility, with the addition of new engineers expected in 2003.
"This marked the end of a 16-year operating history for Allegro in the Willow Grove facility, but as one era ends another begins with the opening of this development center," stated Dennis Fitzgerald, President and Chief Operating Officer of Allegro MicroSystems. "Our remote locations are critical to our product development success, as they help to ensure worldwide access to technical talent."
Allegro currently has three remote sites that work seamlessly with the current engineering group. The new development center has a full working lab for design, development and the pre-production of new integrated circuits.
