Interior Motives magazine launches Student Design Awards 2003

The organisers of the Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 - which was launched in January - have reported an excellent response to the awards entry registration process.
The annual competition - which has been conceived to celebrate, promote and give visibility to original creative thinking and innovation in automotive interior design - is the world's only global interior design awards for student designers, and was launched in January.
"The response so far has been excellent," says marketing manager Alexandra Campos Morales. "So far we have 135 entry registrations from students from almost all of the world's top design schools. The students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and nationalities. This diverse and global mix of entrants can only lead to a broad range of project responses and we anticipate an excellent competition."
The list of senior designers who will judge entries to the Interior Motives Student Design Awards 2003, is also announced today, and includes:

- Mr Bill Fluharty,Vice President Industrial Design - North America, Johnson Controls Inc.
The aim of the Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 is to combine technical innovation with the very best of transportation and industrial design and to help 'push' automotive interior design beyond its current creative limitations.
The Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 is open to students on a recognised graduate and postgraduate design course, anywhere in the world, though the competition also invites entries from students of fashion design and textile design as well as students of engineering and architecture.
The competition comprises five lifestyle and scenario design briefs. Category winners will each receive US$2,000 in prize money, while the overall winner will win US$10,000. Winners and runners-up will all be invited to the awards ceremony at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2003, on September 10.
Prizes will be awarded in the following six categories: Best innovation award; Best use of technology; Best cultural interpretation; Best production interior (Best near-market solution); Best conceptual interior and Best lifestyle interior. In addition one overall winner will be selected from the above categories.
The closing date for receiving entries is May 31 2003 at 12.00 a.m. (midnight), GMT.
