7-Eleven, Inc. U.S. Same-Store Merchandise Sales Grow 2.1 Percent; Total Merchandise Sales Rise 3.2 Percent
DALLAS, March 11 -- 7-Eleven, Inc. today reported total sales for February 2003 were $797.6 million, an increase of 15.7 percent over the February 2002 total of $689.2 million. Total merchandise sales for February 2003 were $532.9 million, an increase of 3.2 percent over the February 2002 total of $516.5 million. U.S. same-store merchandise sales for February 2003 increased 2.1 percent, on top of a 5.8 percent increase in February 2002.
Gasoline sales for February 2003 were $264.6 million, a 53.2 percent increase compared to $172.7 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store increased 5.5 percent in February 2003 compared to the February 2002 result. The average retail price of gasoline for February 2003 was $1.65, compared to $1.15 in February 2002.

The following results compare year-to-date results through February 2003 to the same period last year:
