Durr Selects Suitt Construction as Partner for Paint Shop Facility

GREENVILLE, S.C.--March 11, 2003--Durr, the world's largest supplier of paint finishing systems to the automotive industry, has selected Suitt Construction Company as a partner for the multimillion-dollar paint shop facility that is part of the new Hyundai assembly plant near Montgomery, Ala.
Suitt is constructing the 760,000-square-foot paint shop building, and Durr will be responsible for the process equipment and process systems technology. The scope of work covers the construction of foundations, floor slabs, wall systems and roofing systems, as well as the installation of fire protection, mechanical and electrical services. The paint shop has been designed for a throughput of 76 jobs per hour to trim and employs the latest technological developments in the paint finishing industry, including the revolutionary RoDip-3 system for pretreatment and electrocoat.
During the preconstruction phase, Suitt significantly reduced estimated costs through value and team engineering with minimal changes to the scope of supply. The first painted body is scheduled for March 1, 2005.
