Clark Pest Control Selects DriveCam's Driving Feedback System; Video Technology Improves Driving Performance and Highway Safety
SAN DIEGO--March 11, 2003--DriveCam Video Systems, a developer of fleet safety technology, today announced that Clark Pest Control has selected DriveCam's Driving Feedback System to improve driving safety.Clark Pest Control operates 800 vehicles and is among the top 10 largest pest control companies in the U.S. DriveCam's Driving Feedback System combines video technology with management software to improve driving performance.
Based in Lodi, Calif., Clark Pest Control is a family owned business that has been providing professional pest control services since 1950. During a six-month evaluation, Clark performed a head-to-head comparison of the DriveCam system and an instrumentally-based event recorder. The results overwhelmingly favored DriveCam as a method to improve driving, with some drivers immediately demonstrating dramatic improvements. DriveCam's Driving Feedback System was selected over other technologies because of its unique ability to record what actually occurs during a driving incident. By reproducing the human experience, DriveCam recordings give an unbiased account of what drivers rely on to make decisions.
"Safety is our primary concern, keeping both our drivers and the public safe," said Terry Clark, president of Clark Pest Control. "Our vehicles are rolling billboards for Clark Pest Control. Safe and courteous driving benefits the entire industry. Our drivers are 100 percent behind the system, because it provides unbiased evidence when they are not at fault. In my opinion, every vehicle on the road should be equipped with DriveCam."
DriveCam is a palm-sized video recorder mounted behind a vehicle's rearview mirror that records what drivers see and hear during unusual driving incidents. DriveCam monitors driving activity by continuously recording video, audio and four directions of G-forces into a digital looping memory. G-forces are caused by activities such as hard braking, acceleration, harsh cornering or collisions, which trigger DriveCam to save a driving event for later viewing. DriveCam's HindSight 20/20 software allows fleet managers to easily view an event on a computer to evaluate driving performance.
"DriveCam's Driving Feedback System is used by commercial fleets to promote driving safety, security and accountability," said Ed Andrew, president of DriveCam Video. "Safe driving translates to fewer collisions, which lowers insurance losses. At the same time, safe driving reduces vehicle wear and tear and lowers vehicle operating costs."
