Former GM Executive Joins INDEC's Global Management Team

DETROIT, March 10 -- Les Schoonover, formerly global warranty director for General Motors Worldwide Purchasing organization, has been named director of North American operations for INDEC, a leading provider of technical benchmarking systems for the automotive industry.

Schoonover previously held a variety of senior management positions in purchasing and international business operations at GM. In 1976, he was appointed manager of corporate purchase contracts and later was responsible for GM's North American tire and wheel purchasing programs.

He joined GM's Motors Trading Corporation in 1989 as commodities director with responsibility for developing global raw-material acquisition strategies. Two years later, he became the group's director of European operations and subsequently served as executive director for international trade.

From 1995 until 1997, Schoonover served as an executive director of General Motors India, with responsibility for the development of the company's local supply base. He went on to direct GM's North American Steel Resale Program as part of GM's Worldwide Purchasing organization, prior to becoming global warranty director.

A native of the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak, Schoonover currently lives with his wife in Orchard Lake, Michigan.
