Union Boss in Derby for big employer talks
London, March 6 -- Derek Simpson, leader of the giant manufacturing union Amicus is in Derby today to visit Rolls Royce and Toyota in the wake of this week's big news stories.
At 9.00a.m. Mr Simpson will visit Rolls Royce to meet shopstewards and the management to discuss the current pension crisis in the company and the recent announcement of job cuts.
At 1.30p.m. Mr Simpson will visit Toyota to meet with union members and management. He will seek an update on the comments made by a senior company executive that disparaged the British workforce.
He will also discuss the current wage review with members in relation to wage settlements negotiated by the union in other car manufactures in the UK
Amicus General Secretary Derek Simpson said
"It's been a big week for our members in Derby and I felt it was important that I come and show solidarity with them. The pensions, pay and the reputation of our members are very important to Amicus."
