The 9th annual "ultimate road trip" celebrates America's love affair with the automobile on an 8-day traveling extravaganza through the South
LOS ANGELES, March 5 -- The 9th annual Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, May 30 - June 6, 2003. Presented by Chevrolet and sponsored by Flowmaster, this year's 8-day, 7-city trek of some of the world's most colorful, customized vehicles will begin in Nashville and wind its way through the South before a final stop in Fort Worth on June 6th. Known as the "ultimate road trip" and an event for the whole family, the Tour will motor approximately 1500 miles and attract nearly 200,000 participants and spectators along the way.
According to Ira Gabriel, publisher of Hot Rod Magazine, the world's largest and most influential automotive performance publication, the event embodies everything that the magazine has represented throughout its 55-year history, and more. "The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour is truly a celebration of the automobile as people from all over the country and even internationally come out to share their passion and have some fun. There is an incredible sense of camaraderie. You see it all on the Tour from the daily driver to the truly exotic."
The 2003 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour celebrates the character of the South, with a schedule that features some of the region's most exciting cities and destinations:
Friday, May 30 - Nashville, Tennessee Saturday, May 31 - Memphis, Tennessee Sunday, June 1 - Jackson, Mississippi Monday, June 2 - New Orleans, Louisiana Tuesday, June 3 - Lake Charles, Louisiana Wednesday, June 4 - Shreveport, Louisiana Thursday, June 5 - Fort Worth, Texas Friday, June 6 - Fort Worth, Texas
Each city stop features a host of activities such as special lunch gatherings at local points of interest and sponsored "Cruise Nights." Evening festivities are free to participants as well as the general public and include hundreds of hot rods, manufacturer displays, product giveaways, Dyno Challenge and more.
Chevrolet is proud to return to the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour as the presenting sponsor. More than a dozen highly customized GM vehicles -- accompanied by the GM Performance Division rig -- will join the daily caravan of hot rodders and participate with a "Cruise Night" exhibit.
