Modine Named `SPD Supplier of the Year' by the Chrysler Group

    RACINE, Wis.--March 5, 2003--Modine Manufacturing Company has been honored by the Chrysler Group's Toledo North Assembly Plant (TNAP) as being named the "SPD Supplier of the Year" at Modine's Toledo Assembly Plant. The achievement caps off a great year for the Modine facility.
    The award is based on providing excellent product quality and service to the Chrysler Group's TNAP facility. Modine's facility supplies power-train cooling modules to TNAP in a one-for-one sequence, or SPD (sequential parts delivery) for the Jeep(R) Liberty.
    "This is a great accomplishment for our Toledo Assembly Plant and our company," said Lyman Tschanz, general manager of Modine's Automotive Division. "Since we began shipping to the Chrysler Group's TNAP facility back in 2001, our staff at Toledo Assembly, along with our suppliers (which includes our facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, McHenry, Illinois, and Richland, South Carolina) have performed extremely well."
    Modine operates an innovative and integrated system of assembly and material handling components for supplying product to the Chrysler Group. The process begins when Modine receives a live-line broadcast from the Chrysler Group, and five hours later, the module is installed on a Jeep(R) Liberty. In addition to assembling the heat-transfer components, Modine handles the purchasing and logistical responsibility of other parts on the module - such as fans, shrouds, seals, and connections. Modine's Toledo Assembly Plant is recognized in the industry as a benchmark for quality and performance for sequential parts delivery.
