Hyundai Motor America Donates $50,000 to the National Association of Hispanic Nurses

33 National Association of Hispanic Nurses Chapters Across the Country Benefit From Hyundai's Donations in 2002

Hyundai's Contributions Support Ongoing Education of Nurses and Help Fight the Nation's Nursing Shortage

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 4 -- Hyundai Motor America (HMA) helped to fight the nation's nursing shortage by donating $50,000 to the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) last year. Hyundai has supported NAHN for more than three years -- part of its long history of supporting nurses in the United States. Recognizing the shortage of nurses in America, Hyundai provided $1,000 to all 33 NAHN chapters, and an additional $17,000 to the national governing body, making Hyundai the largest single contributor to NAHN. The donations will be used to fund the ongoing education of NAHN members who are filling empty nursing shoes and improving the health of communities nationwide.

"We are very grateful to Hyundai for making such a generous donation to our organization," said Nilda Peragallo, NAHN President. "Each chapter will use the money to help meet the specific nursing and health care delivery needs of the communities in their region, and the donation made to our national headquarters will strengthen our organization and benefit all of our members."

In addition to supporting NAHN, Hyundai has funded scholarships, nursing research grants, nursing conventions, special programs and continuing education grants through various nursing foundations for more than three years. In 2002, Hyundai participated in the National Student Nurses Convention, the Critical Care Nurses Convention and the American Nurses Association Convention.

"Hyundai Motor America is proud to help NAHN achieve its goal of providing Hispanic nurses equal access to educational, professional, and economic opportunities by offering ongoing scholarships and education grants to NAHN's national and local chapters," said Donna Kane, Public Relations National Manager, Hyundai Motor America. "We understand the importance of increasing the number of nurses in America and we are dedicated to supporting organizations such as NAHN in their efforts to better the quality of health and nursing care."

Hyundai Motor America, headquartered in Fountain Valley, Calif., is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company of Korea. Hyundai cars and sport utility vehicles are distributed in the United States by Hyundai Motor America and are sold and serviced through more than 600 dealerships nationwide.
