Delphi Division Books More Than $85 Million in Catalytic Converter Business in January
Delphi continues solid growth in Asia Pacific region
TROY, Mich., Feb. 28 -- Delphi Corporation's Energy & Chassis Systems division announced today that, in January, it booked business exceeding $85 million to supply catalytic converters to several customers in North America and the Asia Pacific region.
"We continue to see excellent growth in Asia Pacific," said Guy C. Hachey, vice president, Delphi Corporation and president, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. "Our catalyst components are an ideal solution to help vehicles meet the increasing demands of global emissions standards."
A vehicle's catalytic converter is responsible for assisting in reducing exhaust emissions. The engine exhaust gas is collected in the exhaust manifold and routed through a catalytic converter system before it leaves the tailpipe. The catalyst inside the converter facilitates the chemical reactions that change the potentially harmful compounds (primarily hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and oxides of nitrogen) into less harmful gases.
Delphi's converters can be adapted to multiple engine types and other unique vehicle specifications and supplied as part of a total engine management system. The components can also be delivered in an integrated exhaust module or as a stand-alone component.
"Our catalyst components provide increasing flexibility to our customers, as we are able to deliver the product as part of a complete engine management system or as a separate component," said F. Timothy Richards, executive director, business lines, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. "Customers are taking advantage of this flexibility and the efficiencies that it provides in the applicability to various engine management systems."
