Federal-Mogul Updates F-M TEC Aftermarket Training Curriculum for 2003

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 27 -- Federal-Mogul TEC, the automotive aftermarket's leading manufacturer-sponsored technical education program, has announced its 2003 schedule of training center-based workshops and in-field seminars for automotive service professionals and engine builders.

Based in St. Louis, Mo., the widely respected F-M TEC program in 2002 provided in-depth technical training to nearly 20,000 aftermarket professionals and is one of the few North American programs certified to Continuing Automotive Service Education standards by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

"Federal-Mogul is committed to maximizing the number of technicians and engine builders who take part in our training workshops and field seminars," said F-M TEC Manager of Technical Education Tom Martin. "We're investing in both a full-scale training center-based curriculum and a growing range of field seminars that address the educational needs and work demands of today's automotive service professionals."

The 2003 F-M TEC training curriculum includes nine multi-day workshops offered throughout the year at the company's training facility in St. Louis and three three-hour in-field seminars available at scores of North American locations.

"We continue to explore new ways to enhance access to our results-oriented training curriculum," Martin said. "The paradox in today's market is that while the need for training has never been greater, fewer technicians and shop owners can invest time away from work to take advantage of the industry's best programs."

  F-M TEC multi-day workshops for 2003 include:
  Undercar
Steering, Suspension and Driveline (TEC101, 20 hours)
Brake Diagnostics and Introduction to ABS (TEC201, 20 hours)

  Underhood
  Automotive Electronics (TEC301, 20 hours)

The 18 ASE-certified TechLine specialists fielded more than 500,000 product- and training-related calls in 2002, according to Mark Baker, the company's manager of technical services.

"Technical education is the lifeblood of our industry and our company," Martin said. "We're reaching out to customers in every way we can to ensure that they continue to thrive in today's competitive marketplace."
