AutoLogistics Speakers from Carriersnet to Discuss Combining Commercial Benefits with International Cargo Security
DEARBORN, Mich.--Feb. 26, 2003--Despite overlapping official initiatives and a multitude of agencies, there is a solution to improving profits while protecting cargo shipments from terrorists, according to U.S. speakers scheduled to address the 2003 AutoLogistics Europe conference in Geneva, Switzerland on March 6th.As part of a panel on European Transportation Infrastructure, Legislation and Security Issues, executives from Carriersnet Group, Inc. will describe a comprehensive approach to combining increased profitability with cargo security by actively involving carriers, shippers, intermediaries, ports and government agencies, a Carriersnet spokesperson said.
"The shipping industry has long needed a holistic approach to efficiently and profitably move cargo from manufacturer to port of origin to vessel to final destination. Now the word 'safely' has been added to that need," said Capt. H. Salloum, Carriersnet chairman and CEO.
Salloum and Rick Romero, Carriersnet's security advisor are expected to tell the 150 AutoLogistics attendees about a patented process flexible enough to accommodate connectivity to any technology, ranging from ordinary fax machines to dedicated data lines. The system must accommodate a wide variety of legacy proprietary systems and EDI standards while protecting participants' confidential trade information from competitors, the two executives warned.
"We are looking forward to addressing this prestigious group of industry leaders who have grave concerns about the impact of new security requirements on the industry's ability to continue to serve its customers with Just-In-Time deliveries and other commercial demands," Salloum said.
Romero added, "Through a careful analysis of US government initiatives that have global implications, such as the Container Security Initiative (CSI) along with the costs of non-compliance, we are confident that AutoLogistics attendees will leave this conference assured that the two objectives of increasing efficiency and improving security are not mutually exclusive."
Carriersnet Group, Inc. is a privately held global logistics network company based in Dearborn, Mich. AutoLogistics Europe 2003 is a conference where automotive logistics chiefs gather to formulate the future shape of the European industry.
