APA 'Approves' Hi-Tech Engine Components Program

LENEXA, Kan., Feb. 25 -- Automotive Parts Associates, Inc. (APA) announced today that it has approved Hi-Tech Engine Components to supply engine kits, crankshafts and engine components to their membership. Founded in 1981, APA is a member owned cooperative made up of over 100 independent warehouse distributors and numerous 'Service Dealer' associates.

Dan Freeman, the President and CEO of APA stated, "The selection of Hi-Tech as a vendor was an easy choice. Their proven outsource-solution concept guarantees that our members will make more money in the large, but traditionally tough to service, engine parts category. The huge potential for related sales makes doing a better job in this category even more important to our members."

Lonnie Mayne, V.P. of Sales for Hi-Tech and former sales manager for both Federal Mogul and Timken added, "Hi-Tech Engine Components free overnight delivery of Master Engine Kits, Major Engine Kits and Re-Ring Kits is a key component of our program. It allows the distributor to stock less inventory while providing enhanced order fill. Another important point came up during our member interviews. We were told that receiving an engine kit from multiple locations can be a real headache. Clearly, it's very difficult for a distributor that sells multiple kits per day, to match up all the individual components with the correct kits. This is not an issue when using Hi-Tech. Our kits are sent out in one box, 100% complete. Customers love the convenience."

Bill Cook, Administrator of Program Development for APA concluded, "I'm really excited about all the extra kits that will be available to our members because of the Hi-Tech program. We'll now be able to service twice as many applications. The additional coverage includes things like tractors, forklifts, imports, heavy-duty diesel, high performance and marine. They really do offer the most extensive coverage in the industry. In fact, I was shocked to find out just how aggressive Hi-Tech is when it comes to adding components for late model applications. Their new "Big Book" catalog already includes coverage for 2002 vehicles!"
