Fw: MIGNOGNA MOVES TO HOOTERS PRO CUP SERIES
GREENSBURG, PA ( Feb.25) .......... Former ICEMAN and NASCAR All Pro
series competitor Jason Mignogna announced his intention to run a limited
United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series schedule in
2003.
"My plan is to do a three or four race schedule in the USAR Northern
Div. this season," Mignogna said. "The goal is to get a feel for the series
and become competitive, then make a run for rookie of the year honors in
2004."
The 30-year old Greensburg resident will make his Hooters Pro Cup debut
Sat. April 12 at the Jennerstown (PA) Speedway driving a 2002 Chevrolet Monte
Carlo owned by his father, Patsy. "We purchased a KLB chassis from
Jeremiah Kuntz last fall," Mignogna added, "the car has been totally rebuilt and
NASCAR engine-builder Carl Wegner is supplying us with a newly designed
Pro Cup power plant. I think we have a competitive package and feel we can
be a contender once I get accustomed to driving the heavier Pro Cup cars.
All my previous xperience has been in the lighter, off-set super late models.
The Hooters cars are similar to those used in the NASCAR BUSCH Series, so I
know that I have a bit of a learning curve going into the season."
While Mignogna will be classified as a rookie in Hooters Pro Cup, he
actually brings 11 years of experience to the series. A former Jennerstown/
Motordrome rookie of the year, Mignogna has been a consistent top-10
finisher in the ICEMAN late model touring series and captured his first feature
win at the Mansfield (OH) Speedway this past season. Mignognaalso has raced in
the NASCAR All Pro Series.
Aside from Jennerstown, Mignogna will attempt to qualify for events at:
Mansfield, Motordrome (PA) and South Boston (VA).
Mignogna Collision Center will serve as the teams primary sponsor. A
number of associate marketing partners will be announced within the next month.
