Riders Test New Portions of Track at Infineon
SONOMA, Calif. * Infineon Raceway hosted the *3 Js Motorcycle Day* on Saturday, and 75 riders showed up to give the three new portions of the 12-turn, 2.32-mile road course a try.
It was the first time motorcycle riders have been permitted on the three new portions of track that have been added for safety enhancements: Turns 1, 8-10 and 11. The reconfigured circuit will be used for the AMA Supercuts Superbike Challenge, presented by Honda of Milpitas, May 2-4.
Factory teams from Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki have been confirmed to test the enhanced circuit on March 20 in a test session. Ron Barrick, AMA road race manager, is also expected to attend the test. Barrick, along with AMA Chevy Trucks Superbike riders Eric Bostrom (Kawasaki), Miguel Duhamel (Honda), Ben Bostrom (Honda) and Aaron Yates (Suzuki) aided track officials in the redesign process.
Some of the notable riders who attended the *3 Js Motorcycle Day* on Saturday included Tony Meiring (Kawasaki), and defending AFM Formula Pacific champion David Stanton, as well as former AFM champion James Randolph.
