FLOWMASTER RETURNS TO THE TRANS-AM SERIES
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. ‹ After a seven-year absence, Flowmaster returns to the
Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup as its ³Official Exhaust² for
the 2003 season. Along with its official sponsorship agreement, Flowmaster
will sponsor a new performance-based award, the ³American Thunder
Challenge.²
³The Trans-Am Series is the premier road racing series, and is a perfect fit
for our target market,² said Flowmaster Director of Motorsports Dale Dotson.
³The racing environment also provides us with the ideal environment to
perform research and development. The information gleaned from the harsh
world of racing translates directly into our line of high-performance
mufflers and exhaust systems for the street.²
The Flowmaster American Thunder Challenge will present a $2,000 bonus to the
driver who wins the pole, sets fastest race lap, leads the most laps and
wins the race at each Trans-Am Series event this year. Should no one win the
award at a given race, the prize money will roll over to subsequent races
until a driver wins the ³Challenge.² Any unclaimed prize money will be added
to the championship points fund in Flowmaster¹s name.
³The American Thunder Challenge is just another way for Flowmaster to show
its support of the Trans-Am Series and its competitors this season,² said
Dotson. ³We are privileged to reward the people that make all of this
possible‹the drivers.²
Flowmaster, Inc. manufactures high-performance mufflers and complete exhaust
systems and operates the only exhaust research facility of its kind in the
world, centered around the Super Flow SF-7100 engine dynamometer.
Through continuous product testing and development, the Flowmaster product
line has expanded rapidly from its original roots in racing to further
include exhaust products for performance-street, truck, RV and motor home
applications. Flowmaster manufactures more than 400 different muffler models
and 300 different exhaust systems.
The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup features closed-fendered,
production-based, V-8-powered sports cars. The Trans-Am Series is America¹s
oldest continuously running sports car racing series and celebrates its 38th
anniversary in 2003.
