Mazda Appoints Silvestri to Director, Dealer Affairs



    IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 21 -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) recently announced the appointment of Greg Silvestri to director,
dealer affairs.  In this position, Silvestri will be responsible for all
dealer communications, the National Dealer Advisory Council and associated
Mazda Action Teams, corporate identification, national merchandise and
national shows and exhibits, which include national and regional dealer
meetings and auto shows.  He previously was director of customer service and
parts operations.
    Silvestri has been with Mazda since 1983 in numerous capacities, including
marketing, dealer communications, sales and field operations.  He has been
instrumental in helping Mazda achieve its aggressive growth targets and brings
with him experience gained while previously serving as director of dealer
affairs from 1997 to 2000.
    "Greg's wealth of experience with all aspects of our dealer network make
him a natural fit for this position," said Jay Amestoy, vice president of
public and government affairs for MNAO.  "He will be instrumental in
generating excitement and enthusiasm for all the new products Mazda is
launching, especially the new MAZDA6 sports sedan."
    Silvestri earned a bachelor's degree in business education from Northern
Illinois University.

    Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the sales and
marketing, customer parts and services support of Mazda vehicles in the United
States.  Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO has more than 700 dealerships
