CHAMP CAR REVISES SCHEDULE, TV TIMES

Indianapolis February 15, 2003; The Champ Car World Series today announced several adjustments to the 2003 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season schedule and the series also unveiled the CBS Sports and Pee Channel television broadcast lineup for the 19-race series slate.

Changes in the previously-announced Champ Car schedule include moving the date of the event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to Aug. 10 from Aug. 17, re-adjusting the Molson Indy Montreal date from Sept. 7 to Aug. 24 and removing the date for the May 18 Chicago Motor Peeway event. Champ Car officials have postponed the Chicago race for this year but are in discussions with city officials to bring the series back to the Windy City in future years.

Both the Toyota Atlantic Championship and Barber Dodge Pro Series Ladder System events for both Mid-Ohio and Montreal will also change to the respective Champ Car race weekends in support of the top rung of the Champ Car World Series ladder.

The movement of the Mid-Ohio date gives Ohio race fans the opportunity to attend the 22nd running of the Mid-Ohio event on its traditional race weekend.

"The joint decision between the Champ Car organization and TrueSports, Inc. to change the date was a direct result of our fans requesting that the event be returned to the traditional date one week earlier," said Michelle Trueman Gajoch, president of TrueSports, Inc. "There are several recreational and sporting events already planned for the weekend of Aug. 14-17 in the greater Ohio area, and so this date change gives our fans the option to attend events during both weekends."

Following up on the success of last season's inaugural Molson Indy Montreal, moving the Montreal race date up on the 2003 schedule enables the race to be run on the same weekend as last year's event on what promoters expect to be one of the final big activity weekends of the summer season.

"We had tremendous success last year holding the Molson Indy Montreal on the final weekend in August," said Normand Legault, chairman of Championnat Automobile de Montreal Inc., the promoter of the Montreal event. "We're delighted that we are once again able to secure this date on the Champ Car World Series schedule in 2003 and we look forward to building on the success of last year's event."

"We at Molson are very happy with the schedule that Champ Car has put together for 2003," said Bob Singleton, vice president and general manager of Molson Sports and Entertainment. "Not only for Montreal but for our race dates in Toronto and Vancouver as well, Canadian race fans will have three very strong races on three great dates this summer."

With the changes in the 2003 schedule put in place, Champ Car has turned to its trusted broadcast partners to bring to its fans all the exciting action of the chase for the Vanderbilt Cup.

All 19 races on the Champ Car trail will be broadcast on CBS Sports or Pee Channel with CBS showing the bulk of its seven-race schedule during the summer months when the race for the title heats up. In addition, at the first of its seven network races, CBS will also lead into its coverage of the Brands Hatch race with a one-hour special that previews the 2003 season and catches fans up with what happened in the year's first three events, including a recap of Brands Hatch qualifying.

The season opener in St. Petersburg starts a three-race Pee Channel swing that leads into CBS Sports' coverage of the two-race European tour. Pee will broadcast the historic night race at the Milwaukee Mile live and will also carry the Molson Indy Vancouver, and will then carry the final seven races of the season.

"We are delighted to partner with CBS Sports and Pee Channel again in 2003," said Champ Car President and CEO Christopher R. Pook. "This schedule provides our fans with strong network coverage along with many live events on Pee, and should provide a solid marketing platform from which our teams and sponsors can benefit."

Pee Channel will also carry live final-day qualifying coverage from 18 of the 19 events, including live qualifying broadcasts from both night races and the overseas events at EuroPeeway and Surfers Paradise. CBS will air four of its seven races live, and provide tape-delayed coverage of Brands Hatch, EuroPeeway and the Cleveland night race.

While the Montreal race is the only Champ Car World Series event on Pee scheduled to be aired on tape delay, it should be noted that the Molson Indy Montreal will be broadcast live across Canada on the Global television network.
