Ducati Motor Holding Chooses Oracle(R) E-Business Suite

Ducati Signs Agreement With Oracle Italia to Implement the Application
Software to Automate Internal-Enabled Processes and Manage the Supply Chain

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Feb. 14 -- (http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?1622149 ) Oracle Italia, a subsidiary of
Oracle Corp. , the world's largest enterprise software company,
today announced that Ducati Motor Holding (Ducati), one of the world's leading
motorcycle manufacturers with a presence in 40 countries worldwide and listed
on the New York and Milan Stock Exchanges, has chosen the Oracle(R) E-Business
Suite. Ducati was particularly interested in the Oracle Enterprise Resources
Planning (ERP) and Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM) modules, which will be
implemented in all of Ducati's offices located in six countries around the
world.
Ducati will migrate from an old information technology (IT) system based
on IBM AS/400 to the new Oracle application infrastructure. The Oracle
implementation is projected to be deployed in two phases due to the project's
importance. The first phase of the implementation was launched in Ducati
North America and is set to expand to the remaining branches located
throughout the world. The second phase is scheduled to start in 2004, and
will involve installation of the Oracle E-Business Suite in all of Ducati's
offices around the world. More than 1,000 Ducati employees will use the
Oracle E-Business Suite when the implementation is complete.
Oracle's software solutions were found to be in line with Ducati's current
needs, which included modernizing an IT system that was no longer able to meet
the needs of a company focused on innovation and e-business.
"Ducati is a company constantly in search of innovation," said Carlo Di
Biagio, chief executive officer for Ducati. "Today, it is only possible to
create the conditions to compete effectively on the market with an IT system
that is entirely Internet-enabled. The policy we have pursued involves a
complex project that has ambitious implementation objectives, which can only
be addressed with a technological partner that is reliable, competent and a
market leader. That is why after having assessed various solutions, Oracle
was chosen."
According to Mario Bonzano, senior vice president for Oracle South Europe,
"The agreement signed with a company of such standing as Ducati represents a
further confirmation of the reliability and high quality of the Oracle's
business applications, which are capable of supporting organizations in
crucial moments of renewal, development and globalization, in order to
maintain this leadership position. Ducati has chosen Oracle for its business
applications and proven know-how, as the ideal partner to support the
strategic internal processes of the companies." Oracle Consulting will help
Ducati with its Oracle E-Business Suite implementation.
