GMC Named Title Sponsor Of Offshore Grand Prix Of Tampa Bay
DETROIT - Building on its series sponsorship of the GMC Pro Grade APBA Offshore Series and official tow vehicle status, GMC has been named the title sponsor of the Offshore Grand Prix of Tampa Bay. The race will be held Oct. 17-19, in Tampa Bay, Fla.
"The GMC offshore Grand Prix of Tampa Bay event and our relationship with APBA, gives us a great forum to showcase the professional grade power of the Vortec engines behind our entire line up of trucks," said Tim Hudgens, regional/divisional marketing manager for Pontiac/GMC in the southeast region. "The relationship between boats and trucks is a natural and Tampa, the second largest truck market in the Southeast region, is the perfect venue to harness the relationship and showcase our professional grade line of GMC trucks."
The APBA Offshore sponsorship provides GMC with the outlet to reach a wide audience while building upon the natural affinity between tow vehicles and boating enthusiasts.
At the event, several GMC trucks will be displayed highlighting their significant towing capabilities including the powerful Vortec engines and Quadrasteer four wheel steering.
In addition to GMC's sponsorship, GMs Vortec engines are the "Official Power of APBA Offshore," providing Vortec HP3 8100 engines for five classes of race boats in a special lease program offered by Innovation Marine Corp.
"APBA-Offshore serves as a unique testing ground to push our products to the limit in one of the harshest environments possible," said Rick Dunagan, director of OEM sales and marketing at GM Powertrain. "With two world speed records established last season, the Vortec HP3 8100 has performed very well, shattering old records and providing extraordinary durability. We're excited to expand our engine offering into more classes this season."
