Ford Names Pawelski General Auditor



    DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 4 -- Ford Motor Company today named Robert Pawelski general auditor,
succeeding Barb Benson, who becomes director of Health Care Cost Control and
Strategy.
    As general auditor, Pawelski will be responsible for managing the
company's global internal audit activities and corporate risk analysis.  He
will work with Ford's senior leadership team and the Audit Committee of the
Board of Directors to continue to improve the internal audit process and help
ensure achievement of the company's Back-to-Basics objectives.
    Pawelski will report to Allan Gilmour, vice chairman and chief financial
officer.
    "Bob is a seasoned audit professional who will continue the process of
building of a world-class audit team at Ford," Gilmour said.  "And Barb will
take on a role critical to the company in this era of rapidly increasing
health care costs."
    A certified auditor, Pawelski, 53, has worked for Ford for 29 years.
Throughout his career, he has held a variety of accounting and finance
positions within corporate staffs, Manufacturing and Financial Services.  In
total, he has spent 19 years in Auditing, including both regional and
international assignments.
    In addition to his experience at Ford, Pawelski is a 12-year member of the
Institute of Internal Auditors and is a past member of the Institute's
International Standards Board.  In 1972, Pawelski was awarded an Army
Commendation for Excellence in Auditing.  He received a bachelor's degree in
business administration from Michigan State University in 1971.
    In her new role, Benson will oversee the development, implementation and
ongoing monitoring of internal control processes for health care, disability
and workers compensation programs.  She will be responsible for the cost
analysis of Ford's health care programs and will participate in formulating
new approaches to controlling health care costs in the future.
    Benson, 47, has worked for Ford for 23 years in several Finance positions,
including Business Development, Business Strategy and Product Development.
She will report to Jim Gouin, controller, North America, and Dr. Vince Kerr,
director of Health Care Management.
