Oshkosh Truck Will Begin Full-Rate Production of Revolution Composite Ready-Mix Drum
OSHKOSH, Wis.--Feb. 4, 2003--Oshkosh Truck Corporation confirmed today that it's subsidiary, McNeilus Companies, Inc., plans to reach full-rate production this fall at its new plant dedicated to the McNeilus Revolution(TM) composite ready-mix drum. The manufacturing facility is being built approximately 25 miles from the McNeilus headquarters in Dodge Center, Minnesota."Construction plans are moving forward on schedule," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We're looking forward to getting the new facility up and running so we can meet the pent-up demand we're seeing among our customers."
Once full-scale production of the Revolution begins, Oshkosh expects to manufacture approximately 300 Revolution drums at the new facility by the end of calendar 2003.
While the Dexter facility is under construction, the company is continuing limited rate production of its Revolution composite drum in Australia. The aptly named Revolution - the first-ever composite ready-mix drum, weighing 2,000 pounds less than a comparably sized steel drum - was introduced at the Conexpo Con/Agg trade show in March 2002 amid great industry acclaim.
"We have over 60 Revolution mixer barrels out in the field right now," said Bohn. "They're going out on the job every day, getting used and put through their paces in various climatic and operating conditions by ready-mix producers across the United States."
These field results have shown the Revolution to exceed expectations for loading, mixing and discharge performance. The Revolution has also provided excellent performance in terms of clean-up.
