CASCAR ANNOUNCES WESTERN SERIES TITLE SPONSOR:
THE CASCAR EMCO WESTERN SERIES
London, ON - CASCAR announced today that it has reached an agreement with
London, Ontario-based EMCO Limited to take the role of title sponsor of the
CASCAR Western Series, which will now be known and promoted as the CASCAR
EMCO Western Series.
EMCO Limited is one of Canada's leading distributors and manufacturers of
building materials for the residential, commercial and industrial
construction markets. Since its incorporation in 1906, EMCO Limited has
evolved, through internal growth and acquisitions, into a company with sales
in excess of one billion dollars annually. While the company primarily
serves the residential, renovation and new construction markets, products
are distributed to the commercial and industrial construction markets as
well. EMCO's building materials are primarily distributed in Canada and the
United States. As of December 2000, EMCO Limited employed approximately 2000
people.
EMCO has been involved in CASCAR team sponsorship with Edmonton-based Kevin
Dowler for several years, and have incorporated their motorsports program
deeply into their corporate slogan "Racing to the top of the industry".
"We are extremely proud to be associated with CASCAR." Stated Graham
Faulder, EMCO Limited regional sales leader, Alberta. "We are excited to
provide a great stock car racing program for the fans and competitors in
Western Canada. We have been involved in team sponsorship for several years
now and have been very pleased with the results. We are excited to
contribute to the growth of stock car racing in the Western provinces, and
in making CASCAR stronger in this market."
The announcement of the title sponsorship agreement brought more great news
to competitors in the CASCAR EMCO Western Series in the form of a 40%
increase to the point fund that the drivers will compete for throughout the
season. CASCAR recently completed a highly successful membership drive in
the Western provinces that indicates car counts will be at their highest
ever. The are five Rookie of the Year contenders that have registered for
the series to date: Darin Guillet of Calgary, AB, Jim White of Kamloops,
Derek Polack of Stony Plain, AB, Shaun Polack of Stony Plain, AB and Mark
Derks of Calgary, AB. Darryl Harr, the 2003 CASCAR Western Series champion,
will also return to defend his title in 2003.
"We are delighted to welcome EMCO Limited to the CASCAR family, and are very
excited that they have decided to take such a high-profile role within
CASCAR by securing the title rights to the CASCAR EMCO Western Series."
Stated CASCAR president Tony Novotny. "Western Canada is home to a
substantial group of highly professional race teams and drivers, and also to
a large number of potential corporate partners for our series. We set out to
place a great deal more focus on developing the Western Series in 2003, and
we are extremely pleased that EMCO - a highly successful, market-leading
company - has partnered with us in achieving that goal.
The CASCAR EMCO Western Series operates 10 races in British Columbia,
Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Over 150 race teams across the country compete in
CASCAR's three series': the CASCAR EMCO Western Series, CARQUEST Sportsman
Series, and the Super Series. The Super Series is Canada's top level of
stock car racing.
