Toyota Reports January Sales
TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 3 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A.,
Inc., today reported January sales of 119,329, a decrease of 5.7 percent over
last year's strong January.
The Toyota Division reported January sales of 103,310, down 5.4 percent
over the same period last year. The Toyota Corolla posted solid January sales
of 20,167 units, a 117.8 increase. The restyled ECHO subcompact sedan
recorded 2,950 units sold, up 7.9 percent over last January. Sales of the
all-new, fourth-generation 4Runner mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) were
up 27.3 percent, at 7,145 units sold.
The Lexus Division posted January sales of 16,019, down 7.1 percent over
last year's best-ever January. The LS 430 flagship sedan posted sales of
1,535 units, up 3.0 percent.
Lexus light trucks recorded 7,296 sales, an increase of 10.7 percent over
the same period last year. The all-new GX 470 SUV, which debuted last month,
recorded sales of 2,022 units.
Sales of North American-built vehicles accounted for 54.8 percent of total
January sales.
