ENRG Wins Boston Transit -MBTA- Natural Gas Fueling Contracts, Expanding Operations Nationwide; 10-Year Agreement Valued at More Than $30 Million

SEAL BEACH, Calif.--Feb. 3, 2003--ENRG, North America's leader in clean transportation, has executed contracts for two new natural gas fueling facilities (Cabot Yard and Arborway) with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), the oldest and 5th-largest transportation system in the United States. The Authority is beginning to deploy natural gas transit vehicles and has one fueling facility under construction.
The two contracts, valued at more than $30 million, include design, construction and equipping of the two stations as well as operating and fueling over a 10-year period. Over 250 buses will begin fueling initially at the two stations. The facilities are being designed to accommodate additional buses as the MBTA natural gas vehicle program expands. Fueling operations are scheduled to commence in Summer 2003.
"The nation's first transit system maintains its leadership by this strategic deployment of natural gas-powered vehicles, favoring the local environment and showing its concern for public health in the Boston region," said Mitchell Pratt, Vice President of Business Development, ENRG. "We are pleased to support the MBTA as we extend our operations into the northeastern region of the country."
The MBTA service district includes 175 communities in eastern and central Massachusetts. In 1997, the MBTA celebrated the 100th anniversary of the completion of the nation's first subway.
