REMINDER/Flexcar and Metro Announce Addition of Hybrid Vehicles to Car-Sharing Program
WASHINGTON--Jan. 30, 2003--Flexcar is adding 10 brand new Honda Civic Hybrids to its DC Metro-area fleet.
Hybrids are powered by a combination of battery and gas, resulting in higher fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Combined with Flexcar's car-sharing program, hybrid vehicles can have a significant impact on air pollution. In partnership with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Environmental Protection Agency, and the Council of Governments, this event will highlight the impact of car-sharing and hybrid vehicles on the region's environment, traffic and quality of life. As a result of Flexcar's program, more than 1,700 members are making use of just 42 environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as riding Metro, walking and biking, all of which positively impacts the environment, parking, traffic, and quality of life.
