Cummins Inc. Appoints Bob Sonntag Vice President - Worldwide Power Generation Operations
COLUMBUS, Ind.--Jan. 27, 2003--Cummins Inc. today announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) Sonntag as Vice President - Worldwide Power Generation Operations. Sonntag will assume responsibility for strategy, capital planning and functional excellence for manufacturing operations within the Power Generation Business Unit.Sonntag is currently Executive Director - New Product Introduction & Heavy Duty Consolidation in the Company's Engine Business Unit. He will transition to his new role in the Power Generation Business Unit during the first quarter 2003.

Sonntag, 45, is a 12-year Cummins veteran. He joined Cummins in 1990 as Operations Manager - Fuel Systems and Electronics remanufactruing in Juarez, Mexico. In 1994 he was promoted to Plant Manager - Fuel Systems and Electronics in Juarez. In 1995, Sonntag was named Plant Manager - Engine Remanufacturing in San Luis Potosi, Mexico where he led the consolidation of North American engine remanufacturing into San Luis. In 1997 he was promoted to General Manager - Diesel ReCon. In 2000, he was named as Plant Manager - Columbus Engine Plant. Since mid 2001, Sonntag has led the product launches of both the 11-liter and 15 liter 2002 emissions compliant products for the Heavy-Duty market.
Sonntag obtained his BS in Economics from the University of Missouri - Rolla and has his MBA in Operations Management from the University of Michigan. He and his wife Nancy have three children, a daughter and two sons: Ariel, Eric and Tyler.
