Highlights of Mazda's Domestic Production, Sales, and Export Results for January - December 2002


Tokyo, Japan, Jan. 27, 2003 - (JCN Newswire) - Mazda Motor Corporation
reported today its domestic production, domestic sales, exports, and
overseas production month-end figures from January to December 2002.

Domestic Production

1. Domestic production increased over the previous year for the first
time in five years since 1997. 
2. Models that showed increases over the previous year: RX-7, up 50.8%,
MPV, up 18.9%, Premacy/Ixion, up 6.6%, MX-5, up 4.8%, T-Series, up 2.5%
and Mazda2/Festiva Mini Wagon, up 2.3%. 

Domestic Sales 

1. Models that showed increases over the previous year: RX-7, up 42.4%,
AZ-Wagon, up 6.8% and Demio, up 2.4%. 
2. Market share that showed an increase over the previous year: -
Micro-mini vehicles: 2.4%, up 0.3 points (increased for the first time
in ten years since 1992) 

Exports 

1. Exports increased over the previous year for the second consecutive
year since 2001. 
2. Models that showed increases over the previous year: MPV, up 69.8%,
Premacy, up 8.0%, MX-5, up 6.0% and T-Series, up 1.7%. 
3. Destinations that showed increases over the previous year: Europe, up
36.9%, Asia, up 36.3%, Africa, up 17.2% and Middle East, up 16.7%. 

Overseas Production

1. Exports increased over the previous year for the first time in two
years since 2000. 
2. Models that showed increases over the previous year: Tribute, up
357.1%, 323, up 35.6%, T-Series, up 14.3%, B-Series, up 7.3% and
Premacy, up 4.5%.
