Durakon Maintains Manufacturing Operations in Lapeer



              Agreement Enhances Durakon's Competitive Position

    LAPEER, Mich., Jan. 24 -- Durakon Industries, a leading
manufacturer of cargo management, accessories and systems to the light truck
market, has reached an agreement with the United Auto Workers to continue
manufacturing specialty cargo bedliners at its facility located here for the
next year, while it continues to try to reduce costs in Lapeer.
    According to the company: "Durakon is extremely pleased that it will
continue to produce state-of-the-art quality automotive products from its
location at the center of the auto industry.  We thank all participants who
helped lead to this action as it is positive news for the local Lapeer
community.  We are hopeful that by working with the UAW and the community, we
can reduce manufacturing costs."
    Durakon continues to maintain its world headquarters in Lapeer and its
Technical Center for Advanced Engineered Products.
